Reddit moderation accounts
Moderation accounts stay separate from brand promo. A mod jar is not a marketing jar. This how-to keeps those jobs from sharing cookies. Authorized work only.

A mod account is not a marketing account. I keep them in different local profiles so removal tools, modmail, and brand promo never share a cookie store.
The useful caveat: this how-to is for communities you already moderate. I will not write how to seize a subreddit or how to hide that a brand account is also a mod. Authorized work only.
Why the split is worth a folder
Mod cookies carry tools, queues, and sometimes a different trust context inside Reddit. Brand cookies carry promo history and ads. One folder means one history. That is sloppy ops even when Reddit allows one human to do both jobs.
Reddit sessions on a local profile is the brand sibling. Multiple accounts on one PC is the parent split.
MaskWright 0.1: Windows 10/11, per-profile user-data-dir, no seats. profiles.json is encrypted. Chromium user data is not. Bring your own HTTP or SOCKS5 only if that mod account already uses an exit.
Access is a mod invite, not a dump
When another moderator needs access, Reddit's own mod permissions are the path. I do not export cookies. Facebook page roles, not cookie dumps is the same rule on another platform.
I do not mail the profile folder. There are no MaskWright team seats to "share the locker."
Ads and licensed tools stay elsewhere
Reddit Ads is a different job. Reddit Ads Manager isolation. LinkedIn company pages and Sales Navigator are different products with their own licenses. LinkedIn company pages on one PC. LinkedIn Sales Navigator stays licensed. A mod profile is not a dumping ground for every work login on the PC.
Collection
If I need public data, I prefer the official API where it fits. Headed browsing is for reading as a person. Reddit API versus headed browsing. I do not run a collector inside the mod profile.
Limits and bans are policy. Facebook ads account limits are business facts is the honesty note I reuse: a new folder is not a restore kit.
| Mod profile holds | Mod profile never holds |
|---|---|
| Official mod account login | Brand promo account |
| Mod tools, queues, modmail | Reddit Ads Manager |
| Empty extras on day one | Unofficial "growth" extensions |
How I set it
New profile. Empty cookies. Name it after the community and the word mod. Official sign-in. 2FA on a device I hold. Close it when queue work is done. Do not leave modmail open on a shared tower overnight.
On a real Windows desk
The mod profile is named after the subreddit, not after me. I open queues, handle what a person has to handle, and close it. Automod config stays in Reddit's own tools. MaskWright is not an automod host and not a Playwright runner.
If I also run brand Reddit, I do not bulk-start both "to hop." I finish the queue, stop the mod profile, then start brand if I need it. Bulk start is sequential and easy to abuse as a pile of logged-in windows on one monitor.
Modmail exports, if I take any, go to ops storage the community already uses, with whatever retention the team agreed. They do not sit in a research profile. They do not sit next to a pixel helper.
A household IP is normal for volunteer mod work from home. I do not buy a "mod proxy" as theater. If the community already requires a known exit, I attach that sticky line only to this profile.
FAQ
Reddit lets me switch accounts. Why two folders?
Switchers are convenient. Folders are durable. I do not want brand promo drafts sitting next to a removal queue.
Can the brand account also be a mod?
If the community already set it that way, that is their configuration. I still keep personal Reddit and ads in other folders. I will not write how to hide a brand as a mod.
Do I automate removals in MaskWright?
No. MaskWright is not a Playwright product. Use Reddit's own tools and automod config. A person still handles edge cases.
Proxy for mods?
Only if you already use one for that account. A household IP is normal for volunteer or staff mod work you are allowed to do from that house.
Keep mod tools in one local folder. Keep brand Reddit and ads out. Invite other mods through Reddit, not through a cookie file.
